The CEC’s Wendy K. Winer is one of the most well-known and highly respected RNFAs in the world. She is globally recognized for not only her incomparable surgical expertise, but more importantly, for her compassion. Wendy cares for our patients throughout their pre-, peri- and post-operative phases, and all come to love her gentle manner. She wants all of our patients to be the ultimate beneficiaries of her vast experiences and knowledge.
Wendy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Kansas School of Nursing and has been a Registered Nurse since 1977, specializing in operative Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy as a Registered Nurse First Assistant. She is the author/co-author of countless medical journal articles and book chapters, routinely teaches postgraduate courses to nurses, physicians and healthcare providers, and is a featured speaker at innumerable professional and patient-oriented events.
She has coordinated research for numerous FDA clinical trials for various women's health treatments and been involved in countless research endeavors. For two decades, she has served as the Chair of the Nursing & Operating Room Personnel Committee for the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and is an active Charter Member. She has also served as Chair of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) Specialty Assembly for General Surgery/Gynecology and is a member of its advisory board. Wendy serves on the AORN task force for the potential hazards of smoke in the operating room and as an international advisor for AAGL. She is also a former adjunct faculty member of the Emory University School of Nursing in Atlanta.
Wendy has been involved in development of instrumentation and equipment and continually advocates techniques to improve efficiency before, during and after surgery in order to optimize patient results from minimally invasive surgery. She has also suggested methods for reducing surgery costs without sacrificing the quality of care and treatment, proposing specific requirements for operating room and office procedures. She has chaired or been on the faculty of workshops for physicians and/or nurses both in the United States and around the globe, including programs in Russia, Australia, Wales, England, Italy, South Africa, Argentina, Canada, Israel, Spain, New Zealand, Portugal, China and beyond. She serves on the Nursing Advisory Board of American Health Consultants, on the Ad-Hoc Committee of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology (JMIG), as an Editorial Advisor for the Journal of Peri-anesthesia Nursing, as a Nursing Advisor for OBGYN.net, on the Advisory Board for Medical Books of China and on the AAGL Research Committee. She also did a multi-city training visit to China with the CEC's Founder, Dr. Robert B. Albee, Jr., MD, after being invited to go train physicians across the country in excision of endometriosis. Most recently, she performed live surgeries and served as a member of Faculty at the annual Congress of the AAGL. Wendy has also been elected by her peers to the Executive Board of the Foundation of the AAGL.
